Author’s Chair
Each week we will feature the written work of our students. We hope that you will stop back next week and see what they are writing and thinking about.
KITAH ALEPH
Kitah Aleph has been exploring the writing of Mo Willems in their author study. We have focused on Willems’ Pigeon series as each student came up with their own idea for a Willems’ inspired Pigeon book. As we continue to learn about the endless choices authors make, we’ve focused on the planning stages of writing – forming ideas and jotting them down in draft form. In these samples, you can see the planning stages of these first-grade authors and the initial steps of moving from the drafting stage to the writing stage.

KITAH VAV
This year the middle school students wrote and published their very own book, On Democracy. We are proud of this accomplishment. The book, which can be found on Amazon, even features a foreword by actor Martin Sheen! Here, in this taster from the book, we see the writing of a handful of sixth grade students on what it means to be a good citizen.
