Schechter Manhattan’s After-school Program provides engaging and fun activities that expand your child’s skills and talents. Activities are open to students in grades K-8. The program allows children to explore different experiences, develop or hone established skills, and socialize with other students.
After-school activities for students in grades K-8 are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Activities run from 3:35-4:45 p.m. and 4:45-6:00 p.m.
A light snack will be served before activities begin.

We are excited to offer a robust selection of after-school activities for Winter/Spring of 2023. Registration is now open! The first week of Programming begins January 30, 2023.
After-school activities for students in grades K-8 are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Activities run from 3:30-4:45 p.m. and 4:45-6:00 p.m.

Speed Soccer (Grades K-2)
Speed Soccer is one of our most popular kids’ activities. The curriculum focuses
on providing kids with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete individually while developing strong
leadership habits and creating patterns of teamwork on the soccer pitch. Provided by Swan Kids.
Homework Helper & Educational Games (Grades K-8)
Homework Helper provides support for kids with their homework assignments for the day of the week. Students will have access to the reference books in the library and manipulatives for any work in math. In addition, students will have the chance to work on the computer and play educational games in math, reading and writing

Sports & Fitness (Grades 3-8)
The curriculum focuses on providing kids with the knowledge and sports-specific skills necessary to achieve proficiency in the most popular sports in the world while developing strong leadership/teamwork habits and introducing basic game theory/strategy. Provided by Swan Kids.

Creative Arts and Drama (Grades K-2):
From the “page to the stage.” In this unique program, kids will get to create an art craft to be later explored through drama and movement. Through the use of play, spontaneity, improvisation and theater games, kids are offered an opportunity to express themselves freely and perform their own theater creations. This program offers a genuine dynamic way of relating to each other; it is action based and has a big dose of presence and embodiment. Additionally, it is very fun, uplifting, enhances self-esteem, focus, teamwork and creativity. Taught by Drama Therapist and teaching artist, Idalmis Garcia. Idalmis Garcia is a Cuban-born drama therapist and actress living in New York City. She has a professional career in film, theatre, and television. Idalmis graduated from NYU’s MA in Drama Therapy and is the Co-Artistic Director of the Big Apple Playback Theater. She teaches acting and works as a drama therapist with children and youth with special needs in schools.

Craft Studio (Grades 3-8)
The trendiest crafts, coolest techniques, and most fun vibe for enthusiastic budding artists. Tons of different mediums will be explored and used to craft the most rad works of art! Brought to you by The Craft Studio, which has been on the UES of Manhattan since 1994 and also has a studio in Tribeca, a seasonal outpost in the Hamptons, and a plethora of partnerships with schools and organizations all throughout the country.
Chess (Grade Pre K-8)
After teaching for 10+ years in several of the nation’s top schools, including the perennial National Championship school Dalton, camps, and private lessons, National Master Evan Rabin has assembled a team of the best instructors around to form Premier Chess. As a result, students have improved their opening, middle game and endgame strategy, calculating abilities, overall chess game and competitive nature.

Krav Maga (K-2)
This is one of our most popular & engaging kids programs. is the world’s best and most complete self-defense method. It teaches simple but incredibly effective techniques to stay safe in the urban environment while combining physical development, sharpening of reflexes, and the fine-tuning of motor skills. This is a very empowering program. Some of the benefits are increased situational awareness, understanding the physics/biology/anatomy of the human body, improved focus, independence and assertiveness. Provided by Swan Kids.

Robotics (Grades 3-5)
This class inspires children to connect with the fun and approachable side of science by teaching them to create robots, rockets and other exciting items of their design. A very interactive course that takes kids through the basics of robotic construction/design, circuit building, alternative energy sources, custom robots/machinery, appropriate concepts in chemistry, biology, natural sciences and real-world physics applications. Gymnastics and Tumbling (Grades K-2)
With its increasing allure and captivating thrill in the Olympics, gymnastics is one of the most riveting programs we offer. Our program combines acrobatics and yoga into a curriculum that develops kids into agile and flexible adults, as well as providing good rhythm and movement that can be translated to almost any physical activity. Our students experience an increase in growth as well as positive body image, while creating a lifelong connection to healthy living and a wellness mentality. In this beginner class, children will be introduced to fundamentals such as cartwheels, handstands, bridges, etc. while gaining strength, flexibility, and kinesthetic awareness!

Virtual Reality Adventures (Grades 3-8)
Step into the world of virtual reality with an exciting collection of activities that change weekly in the
meta-universe. The goal of the program is to teach kids about the powers of virtual reality, expose them to STEM concepts, virtual design basics, leadership and team building training all delivered through a prism of games that develop analytical thinking, idea analysis and critical decision making under pressure. Virtual reality allows our educators to push kids safely through challenging puzzles that require both a quick wit and sharp instincts.

- The discrepancy between the prices for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes is based on the difference in the number of classes held on each day.
- There will be no refunds given after the first class has passed. Refunds before the first class runs will be given subject to a minimum number of students in the class.
