Education
At Schechter Manhattan, learning is student-centered, active, and collaborative, preparing graduates for 21st century thinking and productivity. Our teachers know their students well, as children and learners, allowing them to target instruction and meet the range of learning in the classroom.
We invite you to review our curriculum and approach, and to explore some of the exciting ways we engage our students every day.
Teaching & Learning Approach
Our approach to teaching and learning nurtures and supports each student’s intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual and creative sides. And when children know that their needs are being met, they are in the best position to learn.
Explore here how we put this approach into action.
Lower Elementary
The lower elementary school years are the foundation for life-long learning. At Schechter Manhattan, students actively develop core skills and engage in meaningful experiences that allow them to grow in knowledge, resourcefulness, and self-understanding, and in connection to Judaism and community.
Upper Elementary
As students enter the upper elementary grades, they have more opportunities to work in close partnership with other students and think deeply about key topics, strengthening their ability to engage in respectful discourse and reflection.
After School Programs
Our K-8 extracurricular after-school program compliments and enriches our students’ learning. Families can elect from a range of activities for each afternoon of the week.
