A Letter from Benjamin Mann: Head of School.
Welcome to Schechter Manhattan! I have been privileged to see the positive impact that the combination of student centered learning with joyous Jewish living has on Schechter Manhattan students. I am thrilled to share with you the energy, collaboration, and innovation we see in our classrooms every day.
The Schechter Manhattan website conveys profound elements of our educational approach: our commitment to students’ growth and development, our cultivation of their abilities to see from multiple perspectives, and a Jewish call that is at the heart of everything we do.
I believe that Schechter Manhattan is uniquely positioned to prepare graduates to become leaders in the 21st century. Through our student centered and active learning approach, our students hone essential skills like critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. The positive impact that Schechter Manhattan graduates have and will have on the Jewish people and the world at large is an enduring and meaningful outcome of our school’s mission, our faculty’s hard work and care, and our parents’ commitment to giving their children the best education available.
The information on our website gives you a taste of the Schechter Manhattan community. It is a community filled with rigorous learning and rich communal and collaborative experiences, as well as wonderful ruach, school spirit. I invite you and your family to answer the call. Join us in our mission to nurture young Jews who are ready to confidently meet the intellectual, social, and moral challenges that lie ahead, poised not only to do well in life, but also to do good in the world.
I look forward to meeting you soon! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

“ I am proud to lead a school that so consistently actualizes its educational ideals and I feel blessed to be able to see it all in action each day. ” – Benjamin Mann
I enjoy creating content that teaches our students that their identities as Jews doesn’t have to be separate from their day-to-day lives. Videos like my Purim rap engage our faculty and students, showing them how we can carry our traditions alongside our cultural interests – and we all have a lot of fun!
